One of Lynne's Children has found the Way Back.

Since I set up this memorial site in 2011, I only got one e-mail from a therapist who lived on the West Coast.  The e-mail just said that she knew Lynne.

I was thinking about taking this site down.

Then I got an e-mail from one of Lynne's former clients, who needed her guidance and googled her name.

It is how Lynne works.  It turned out that I had created this memorial site for this specific Sister and  Lynne has been waiting for her to find it.

Lynne Aston

One of the most amazing things about Lynne Aston is that if you were in her life, as a friend, a client, or a student – you knew that Lynne loved you. You could feel it every time you were with her. And her love was so strong you felt as if you were special to her. And it was true with everyone in her life, I believe we were all special to her.

Another thing about Lynne was that she was a brilliant teacher. She taught Buddhism in a way that was life changing for the people who were lucky enough to be her students.

She was the wisest person I ever met. I went to her with every difficult problem I ever had and her viewpoint was always compassionate, insightful and original.

And Lynne through her love and compassion could make some spectacular mistakes as she would never give up on anyone.

Lynne also was a genius at seeing the best in a person, believing in them, and making them believe the best about themselves.

Lynne was intensely alive and she could transmit that to those who were in her presence.

For me, my writing about Lynne Aston is like taking a picture of the Grand Canyon. You might get a sense that she was amazing, but it is nothing like actually being there.

I am still not over her death and at this point I realize I probably never will be. It is like being orphaned at a young age. The wound heals over but the ache and longing is always there.

She was a luminous being and I feel very fortunate to have known her.

14th of July

On 14th of July, 2012
I want to be with people who know what the day means
at the Quaker House
in the small village
To share the lives saved
in silence.
